A NOTE FROM PHIL: Reflecting upon the last Be Better family vacation,
it is clear that we are doing something unique. The human connections formed through this program far exceed any business
relationships I've ever seen as the only agenda is a mutual interest in betterment. It just so happens that the Be Better
curriculum allows us to use our innate traits and gifts combined with those we opt to develop to prosper as we benefit others.
I look forward to our pre-Thanksgiving family vacation to celebrate achievement, potential, and unity in an industry where
these elements are far too rare.

Welcome to Ft. Lauderdale ~ A Be
Better 'Fun in the Sun' Weekend
Joann Ayuso (on the left) joins us from Wellesley, MA. Joann sucessfully completed Be
Better Academy just before our Winter 2009 Be Better Trip to Marco Island, FL Shortly after returning from Marco, Joann
graduated to Beyond Better and has been an active contributor to the program. Here's Joann in Marco Island with Beyond

Jim Beatty, making the trip from his home in Chester Springs, PA, is experiencing personal and career
growth as a participant in Beyond Better. Jim's commitment to Be Better is so strong, he's making it down to Ft. Lauderdale
just a few days before his wedding! He has a high-flying hot air balloon story to tell!

Holly Kouvo, from Stow MA, joined the Be Better family as a participant in Be Better 2. She instantly
bonded with the Be Better 1 grads and has been a lively and active contributor to Beyond Better ever since. For the
record, she did not call Bob Piane, the owner of Vortex, "fat" (as he said she did), she simply used her exceptional
skills of influence to get him to better represent fitness. Holly pulls no punches and usually has her eye firmly on
the target.

Jared Carter started as a personal trainer in Gainesville, Florida and has gone through an impressive
progression now the owner of a studio in Philadelphia, PA. He was a pioneer in the original Be Better project and has
found a steady place in the Beyond Better family. He'll be joining us in Ft. Lauderdale accompanied by his
wife, Emily.

Dianne Bailey hails from Centennial, CO where she owns her own studio with a focus on martial arts.
She came on board in Be Better 1, took a hiatus to successfully implement the material, and returned months later as a regular
in Beyond Better. Dianne was recently featured in October issue of The Platform newsletter.

Kelli Calabrese will be joining us, coming in from her home in Flower Mound, TX (a suburb of Dallas).
She hopes to bring her husband Anthony, and her kids Melina and Nicholas.

Phil Kaplan will be making the trip across the state of Florida accompanied by his four-year old daughter
Brooke.

Stacey Miller has assisted Phil and the Be Better project with adminstration and has played a behind-the-scenes
role in the release and development of Be Better Academy. She'll be joining us with her husband . . . and . . .
her five (yes, five) kids.

Dave Kwiecinski (CENTER) came on board in Be Better 2 as a recovering CPA who followed his
passion and found employment at a YMCA. As he progressed into Beyond Better, with the support of the Betterites, Dave
took the leap and went independent. The CPA turned fitness entrepreneur prepares to live his dreams! Dave and
his family live in Winthrop Harbor, IL. On our last Be Better trip to Florida, Dave takes time to bond with Beyond Better
members (left to right) Patrick, Jared and family members.

Sergio Rojas (left) has seen immense growth through his progression through Be Better and into Beyond
Better. He's opening his dream studio in his home town of Chicago where he can be seen weekly on the local news.
Sergio recently moved to Washington DC to promote health, fitness, & nutrition, on a national level. We look forward
to hearing more about his visits to the White House!

When I conceptualized the Be Better
Project, I did it with an end in mind. I knew I wanted to create a fail-proof curriculum that served as a foundation,
as an indelible set of principles that could elevate personal trainers with passion and drive to find their professional career
positions and connect it with a personal and professional confidence that lacks in our field. I wanted to prove the
curriculum powerful beyond any other offering aimed at personal training success. I then wanted to create a truly elite
group of 400 personal trainers who are elevated on a platform upon which they earn appropriate recognition and respect.
When joined by a sense
of balance and prosperity, recognition and respect bring a sense of fulfillment. I can say with 100% certainty this
vision will be fulfilled, and anyone who has connected with the present initiatives has taken on a personal potential that
exceeds anything most trainers will ever know. Ft. Lauderdale offers us a celebration and a
connected clarity as to what we’re moving toward. Between now and 2010, I’ll connect like-minded fitness professionals
through:
- The Be Better Project
- Beyond Better
- Be Better Academy
- The Prosperity Program (with Kelli Calabrese)
- The Platform
I’ve invited the achievers participating in these projects to find a bonding, to connect with a network of
true peers, and to become my long-standing friends and allies as together we set a new standard for the future of Personal
Fitness Training. Join us in Ft. Lauderdale, bring family members if you choose, and let’s share the rewards of
betterment (Heads up: the next trip will likely be Summer 2010: a visit to Salt Spring Island to connect with health, nature,
and my friend Dr. Michael Colgan).
