My name is Dawn Franklin, I live in Phoenix Arizona, have a shih tzu
named "Elvis" and I own my own outdoor fitness bootcamp. I come from a family of 4 kids, me, younger twin
sisters and an older brother. I am an aunt to 3 nieces, 2 nephews and I have a Godson named Jayden. My father is my hero,
at 72 he is still "fit as a fiddle". I'm proud of the fact that I have managed to open my own business 4 years ago
and that it is still open even during trying times. I am proud that I am truly my father's daughter, a 'daddy's girl' that
works hard and never gives up. A good snapshot of my reality is that I have struggled with my physical health (ankle surgery)
and with my business over the past year. With that being said, my ankle is WAY better and getting stronger everyday AND my
business is turning around. I have new found energy and drive that was lost in the sea of physical therapy and a business
that had no direction and was spiraling downward. I feel more clear with mainly my business but I feel like I can also
tackle my personal life as it's all connected. I also realize that I create my own realities and the mind is a powerful thing.
GOALS REVISITED: You will have fun and be motivated and challenged to lose inches and weight in a
supportive environment.
GOAL FOR WORK: One of my goals is to make a base of at
least $5000 a month in monthly payments from campers. This is money that is automatically drafted from their account each
month (EFT). This would average out to about 25 campers and I would like to do this by January of 2011. I have other
goals but you only asked for one:) This is one that I really want to accomplish as it will give me peace of mind as I strive
to increase my bottom line.
OVERLAP GOAL: I have a goal for "time off" that
includes a visit to see my friends in Chicago (summer time). Then heading to see my niece Danielle (and brother and
sister-in-law) in Ohio. Then heading out to see my sisters and their families as well as my parents and a few friends in Michigan.
That goal would need a good week and lots of good 'mapping out' as well.
Where
to fly into and start, where to end up and fly out from. I'd love to do this before it gets cold in Chicago. With
that, the best time would be around the week of June 28th OR week of August 2nd. I may just stick with OHIO and MI but
I miss Chicago! I may even combine Chicago with seeing my brother and niece by having them meet me there.
WORK GOAL SHORT: One of my goals is to make a base of at least $5000 a month of "peace of mind
income".
OVERLAP GOAL SHORT: Recharge my batteries and touch base with friends and
family and a city I haven't seen in a while.
WHAT CAN YOU CONTRIBUTE: This knowledge
I can contribute because I've been there: When you are down and it feels like there is no light at the end of the tunnel
just DO something. My advice is to pick ONE thing at a time and just work that task. Once that task is done, do another task.
Each task you pick should be a task you feel will help you move your business forward.
Example,
you want a new website, you want to do an ad, you want to set up a blog. Focus on ONE thing at a time, get really focused
on that one thing and shut out all the other noise. Baby steps until you are back on your feet.
Spend less time on the noise and more time on what will move your business forward.
HOW
CAN OTHER MEMBERS HELP YOU: Share ideas that have worked for them as far as marketing and advertising.
Provide advice about how to HAVE a business, NOT be my business.
Share stories
about issues they had with clients that they overcame or learned from.
ONE HOUR IS WORTH:
$80-$120
INCOME INCREASING IDEA: I don't know what this means...what programs do you mean?
I have a bootcamp which does that already...and then some. When it's working right and I'm not in a slump:) I would
like to come up with a couple more programs where I don't have to "physically" be somewhere. Maybe an online nutrition
program that my client pays monthy for or nutritional products. Right now I have all my eggs literally in ONE basket.
I have ONE bootcamp at 5:30a.m.....when it's rocking its rocking. When it's not, it's harsh. I need to have more than one
revenue stream.
FOUR THINGS ON A DAY YOU LOVE: Talk or meet up with my sisters or chat
with my dad (they all live in Michigan).
Spend time with my nieces and nephews who live out
of town and/or Godson who lives in town.
Go see a matinee and then go for a bike ride.
Take a nap!
CAREER EVOLUTION: I started out working in a small fitness
studio in Chicago as a manager. It was kind of like curves and I did not have any personal training clients. Then I moved
to AZ working for the same type of fitness studio but I helped start an additional revenue stream as we brought in personal
training clients. I managed the studio and the personal trainers (about 4 or 5 at any given time). We went from just me with
about 8 clients to about 4 trainers and 30 to 35 clients in about a year. I was so wet behind the ears that I didn't see the
potential with what we were doing. You live, you learn! We also had classes at this studio. The owner decided to sell and
start a new facility in a new location but I was read to 'do my own thing' and to make a long story short, started a boot
camp about 4 years ago. The first year was BLISS, like a honey moon phase. I had NO IDEA what I was doing, just did
what I was told from where I got certiied and that was it. It worked! Then this thing happened and that thing and got
overwhelmed, disorganized and dishuvled and all of that. By the end of last year I had gone from an average of 40 to
50 campers to 8 AND was in the middle of ankle surgery then onto physical therapy. Oh aND there was a root canal or
two in there...YAY!
Kick me when I'm down. I've talked about this a few times I think, but the
point is that part of me (a very big part of me) wanted to quit but part of me (small part) did not. I decided to give it
one last go and talked to Kelli about 'bebetter' and almost a year later (year from surgery and biz tanking) and 5 months
into 'bebetter', I am back to 38 campers and only see the camp growing. I have more focus and have regained my drive. I'm
working WAY too much but I will let up when I really get clear on my goals and can relax and have fun again! I want to get
back to my business honey moon phase!
