I have been a fitness trainer for about 10 years now.
Prior to that I was a high school volleyball coach. I led my high school team to their first 3 State Championship title
in the 3 years that I coached there.
Athletics has
been my life since I was little. My dad wouldn't let me play sports because I was a girl. As soon as my parents
got divorced, when I was 10 years old, my mom put me in soccer and my whole life changed. My grades went up, and I stopped
beating up boys at school (ha..true story). I love instructing my boot camps, because it takes me back to that team
feeling.
It's that team feeling that has always motivated
me in every area of my life. Had it not been for athletics, I would probably not have completed college. I'm trying
to take the unique, coach I am by nature and apply it more to my boot camps and I feel like I'm struggling with that.
I know how to prepare a team for a big game, and I'm trying to bring that to the whole weightloss/fi!
tness arena. I'm in my 4th year of owning a boot camp, and I
felt like the first couple of years I did a great job of being a "coach" at boot camp.
Lately, I feel I am struggling to bring that uniqueness out. I struggle being a business owner,
because I don't like administrative work, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE coaching! I could hire an administrator. This business
is my baby, and I don't trust easily.
GOALS REVISITED:
I will demand the best from you in a positive, encouraging way.
GOALFORWORK: I will bring in 25 new campers for my July 12th camp, with new marketing strategies. I will get back to
a gross income of $12,000 a month
by September.
This will allow me to be debt free by January 2011.
OVERLAP GOAL: I will train my one boot camp class in the morning, Monday through Friday. I will work in my office
from 8a-12p Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. I will have a set budget in place that will let me pay off debt, and put
money aside, while still having money to do fun things. I will have a big enough "cushion," so that I am still
comfortable, even during the slow months. I will use each week off between camps as time away to travel, focus on projects
around my house, or branch out and try a new business venture (ie. writing an ebook). I want to completely detach from
business during those weeks off.
WORK GOAL SHORT: To
attain 25 new/former campers each camp, and continue to retain 80% of my current campers by July 12th.
OVERLAP GOAL SHORT: To have 60 campers in each camp by September,
so that I can focus soley on my 5:30 A.M. class, and have time away to refresh myself.

WHAT CAN YOU CONTRIBUTE: Support
and encouragement
HOW CAN OTHER MEMBERS HELP YOU: I
need encouragement, because I have been feeling discouraged. My business rocked for the first 3 years, and it's been
slowing way down. I'm starting to doubt myself.
ONE
HOUR IS WORTH: $120
INCOME INCREASING IDEA: My 5:30
A.M. boot camp class.
FOUR THINGS ON A DAY YOU LOVE:
1. Train my 5:30 A.M. campers
2. Write a motivating article
3.
Hike a mountain with friends
4. Go to lunch after the
hike
CAREER EVOLUTION: Although my business has slowed
down in the past year, I feel I have more of a focus of where I want it to go. Last year, I was just living moment by
moment and it seemed to have been working fine. This year there has been more of a struggle, and I think that could
be a good thing (although it doesn't feel good right now). It's forcing me to stretch myself and learn new tools, which
will be helpful to maintain a solid, thriving business. I started one-on-one training almost 10 years ago.
Before I ever heard of boot camps, I actually started a little
one on my own. I didn't have any business sense. I didn't do any marketing. It was all by word of mouth. I had
3 different camp times with about 12 campers in each class. Then I started to feel the need to "make it better,"
and right at that time (4 years ago this month) I heard about Adventure Boot Camp. I went to the live training, and
got certified, then started my first camp in September. I did everything, step-by-step, that John Ellis instructed us to do, and my camps boomed! Two years ago, I hit a high point
of over 200 campers, with 5 different camp times/locations, and 3 trainers. Then, it started to decline a little, but
I still maintained a solid 60 campers in my 5:30 A.M. camp.
Then in January, I realized I still have so much to learn and I need to keep working on my business knowledge.
So I joined Be Better, because I definitely feel there are so many ways, in business and personally, that I want to be better.
Just like when I switched to Adventure Boot Camp, I feel it is time again to go the next level.
